Youth Care Worker

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with supervising children and ensuring they remain safe, engaged, and appropriately monitored at all times.
  • Aid with age-appropriate games, crafts, stories, play, and other activities that encourage positive interaction and participation.
  • Help meet children's basic needs in an attentive, patient, and caring manner while following established parish procedures.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming childcare environment by helping with setup and cleanup before and after childcare sessions.
  • Encourage positive behavior and assist the lead childcare worker with maintaining appropriate classroom expectations.
  • Follow all parish and diocesan child protection, health, safety, emergency, and supervision procedures.
  • Help greet parents and guardians and assist with established child check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Immediately report injuries, accidents, behavioral concerns, or other incidents to the Childcare Worker or designated parish staff member.
  • Work cooperatively with childcare staff, parish employees, volunteers, clergy, parents, and guardians to provide quality care.
  • Respect the privacy of children and families and maintain confidentiality regarding personal or family information.
  • Support a positive, respectful, and welcoming environment that reflects the values and mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Perform other related childcare and parish support duties as assigned by the Pastor, Parish Administrator, Childcare Coordinator, or designated supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant childcare experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience working with children in a childcare, school, church, camp, or volunteer setting preferred.
  • Patient, caring, dependable, and attentive.
  • Ability to interact positively with children of varying ages.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Respect for the Catholic faith and willingness to support the mission, values, and ministries of the parish.
  • Must successfully complete all required parish and diocesan background checks, safe-environment training, child protection training, and other requirements for working with minors.
  • Ability to actively interact with and supervise children, including standing, walking, bending, sitting, and assisting children as appropriate.
