Youth Care Specialist
About the Role
As a Youth Care Specialist for our youth residential programs, you will provide supervision, support, guidance, and build a therapeutic relationship with the youth under your care. A typical day will include engaging with youth in the program, providing direction, structure and support for their physical and physiological needs, scheduling and participating in activities, ensuring the physical milieus remain clean and safe, completing daily documentation as required by regulatory standards, and transporting clients as needed for appointments and activities. This position may require travel to various residential facilities within the Nashville area.
About Thompson
Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson's continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. Schedule
This position works a rotating schedule:
- 1st Shift: 7am–7pm or 2nd Shift: 7pm–7am
- Week 1: Monday, Thursday, Friday
- Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
All full-time employees must work one of the following schedules: 1st shift (7am–7pm) or 2nd shift (7pm–7am).
Requirements
- Must have a valid Driver's License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the program
- High School diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience working in a residential youth or adult operation or related experience working in the field of child and family services.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software
- Must be at least 21

Pay
Starting Pay Range: $18.50 - $22.00/hourly based on experience. (Not available for PT or PRN roles.)
