Youth Care Professional

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth at San Pasqual Academy, a unique campus located on 238 beautiful acres in rural San Pasqual Valley. The academy is equipped with all the amenities of a private high school, including classrooms, an auditorium, gym, and cafeteria. On-grounds sports and activities include basketball, softball, and football. Residential staff and house parents serve as surrogate parents, mentoring and tutoring students, teaching independent living skills, creating opportunities for new interests, encouraging sports and recreation, assisting in career exploration, and promoting family living skills.

About the role

As a Child Care Worker, you will provide safety and around-the-clock in-person supervision of youth. You will support the physical, personal, and health needs of each student through individual counseling and skill development in behavioral, social, physical, and educational areas. Your responsibilities include creating a supportive atmosphere, monitoring and documenting student behaviors, participating in educational and recreational activities, and collaborating with professional staff to meet each student’s treatment plan goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and 24/7 in-person supervision of youth.
• Support the physical, personal, and health needs of students through individual counseling and skill development.
• Create a supportive atmosphere tailored to student needs.
• Monitor and document student behaviors and activities.
• Participate in and assist with educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities.
• Collaborate with professional staff to establish and meet the goals of each student’s treatment plan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test.
• Ability to pass a search of the child abuse central registry.
• Prior experience working in residential care for youth or with youth ages 12-17.

Pay

Starting at $22/hour. Includes a $1500 Training and Sign-on Bonus: $1000 at 3 months after completion and demonstration of training, $500 at 6 months of employment.

Schedule

4 days per week, 10-hour shifts. Available shifts:

• Shift 1 – Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday: 7am-5pm or 1pm-11pm.
• Shift 2 – Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday: 7am-5pm or 1pm-11pm.
• Shift 3 – Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday: 10pm-8am (overnight).
