About the role
The TLS Youth Care Counselor (YCC) provides supervision, care, and protection for all residents. As a member of the TLS Program’s treatment team, the YCC plays a key role in shaping the tone, direction, and priorities of residents’ treatment plans. The YCC fosters an environment where residents can develop independence and transition into young adulthood. Responsibilities include supporting residents in achieving career, education, and permanent housing goals, as well as addressing their physical and emotional needs, social demands, and guiding them in life skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily support, care, protection, and supervision of residents.
- Model appropriate behavior and provide guidance to promote residents’ self-awareness and understanding of society.
- Ensure residents’ emotional and physical well-being.
- Document daily progress and maintain logs of communications with social workers.
- Drive residents in agency vehicles as requested; must be certified in CPR & First Aid and able to administer both when necessary.
- Log all incidents.
- Attend and participate in mandatory training and in-services.
- Maintain resident records, incident logs, and medical log entries.
- Administer and supervise adherence to program rules, holding residents accountable.
- Attend all staff meetings and report special incidents.
- Follow directions and assignments from supervisors as needed.
- Provide tutoring and schooling support for residents as requested.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with residents and team members.
