About the role

As a Youth Counselor, you will provide a full range of social services directed toward the therapeutic care and rehabilitation of adolescents. You will participate in the planning, organization, and delivery of cross-disciplinary services, including case work, counseling, and specialized treatment, according to individual skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs case management, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling.
  • Works and counsels with individual residents to effect and monitor treatment and progress.
  • Utilizes group-counseling techniques to effectively monitor and enhance treatment progress.
  • Works with external agency staff (probation officers, case workers) to understand case history and identify specific treatment needs.
  • Coordinates the implementation of treatment-related activities.
  • Maintains and completes required documentation prior to the end of the shift.
  • Prepares reports as required.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.
  • Supports and promotes the Sanctuary Model and its commitments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one (1) year of experience; OR Master’s degree in a related field.
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks screening for crimes including, but not limited to, drug-related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
  • Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
  • Ability to work with computers and necessary software typically used by the department.

Schedule

  • Full-Time.
  • Shift: 7 am - 3 pm with a minimum of one 3 pm - 11 pm shift per week.
