Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the coordination of employer events at the Youth Centers.
- Promoting Youth Center services to local employers in need of hiring qualified employees.
- Provide youth participants with work readiness orientation including; workplace conduct and appearance, resume writing, job search strategies, networking, interviewing and other related subjects.
- Initiates and maintains ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives, job placement/training agency.
- Makes cold calls to employers to recruit their participation, conduct presentations promoting employer services; explains the benefits and employment services provided to employers.
- Consults with area chambers of commerce, higher education institutions, apprenticeship programs and all local employers regarding economic and employment trends.
- Develops and maintains a positive relationship with employer and community partners, as well as civic groups.
- Understands current employment trends and adapts to changing markets.
- Maintains job bank database information to ensure that employment opportunities are available for job-ready customers.
- Compiles reports that track activities, outcomes and intervention plans.
- Attend meetings as required by Youth Services, the training institution and/or other agencies to address participant concerns as needed.
- Contributes to the team effort by performing other related work as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Business Management, Public Administration, Economics, Communications, Social Science, or Five years full-time equivalent work experience in customer job placement or job search services in the public or private sector.
- Strong skills in sales and networking, industry knowledge, and previous experience recruiting employers, and established employer relationships.
- Working knowledge of workforce service programs, including WIOA, Apprenticeship Placement.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and meet goals in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet search engines, Outlook/Exchange, computer reporting and other software/database programs used by Career Centers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual Skills (Spanish and/or Arabic) preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Must be an authorized driver and have, or be able to obtain, a valid chauffeur’s license in accordance with agency policy.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting in accordance with agency and funding requirements.
