What You’ll Do As a Youth Behavioral Specialist

  • Maintain safety and security of residents and facility.
  • Maintain compliance with staffing ratios at all times, including mandated overtime, moving to other units as requested, and attending/participating in all clinical/case management group.
  • Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) to document resident behaviors, visitation safety checks (in-house and community outings), and any applicable service.
  • Complete daily shift notes, activity notes, and communication logs, including justification for any behavioral interventions.
  • Supervise residents while following program policies and assuring compliance with Sanctuary principles.
  • Actively (via participation or close monitoring) supervise residents during recreational activities and provide instruction when necessary.
  • Supervise residents during academic instruction, handling behavioral issues.
  • Closely supervise residents while in the community, prioritizing community safety at all times.
  • Implement behavior modification program (point system) in accordance with program policies, philosophy, and treatment plans.
  • Overnight shift duties include performing 15 minute checks on all residents, paperwork (making copies), cleaning and organizing unit areas, ensuring safe evacuation of residents during emergencies and fire drills, recording reports (such as Incident Reports, Restrictive Procedure Reports, etc.), planning and implementing organized activities for the residents, physically restraining residents (only when necessary in order to ensure safety) following Safe Crisis Management training in accordance with program policies, overseeing resident health and hygiene, completing room and personal searches in accordance with program policies, documenting all according to program policies, attending all required meetings and trainings, working on all residential units and educational placements, maintaining building cleanliness as needed such as taking out unit trash and taking used towels/sheets to laundry, performing light maintenance and building improvements, primarily during overnight shifts, transporting clients in company vehicles, as needed, professionally representing agency, adhering to all company policies and procedures, and performing other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or any Human Services field (highly preferred).
  • Associate’s degree with at least one year of experience working with youth (accepted).
  • High school diploma or GED with one year of experience working with youth (accepted).
  • Must have the physical ability to restrain a resident, if needed, while utilizing the tenets of Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training.

Schedule

Full-Time 2nd Shift – 2:00pm-10:00pm Weekends included – (discussed during interview)
