About the role

Bring your leadership to our Thunder Youth Basketball Programs team and help create a fun and inspiring environment for learning at youth basketball camps across the state. Our program challenges participants, ages 6-16, to make a positive impact in their communities. Using basketball as a platform, we cultivate a lifelong passion for the game while helping participants build leadership skills and confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead on-court activities for multi-day and one-day youth basketball camps and community clinics, including speaking to participants and maintaining program standards throughout the duration of camp
  • Assist the Youth Programs Coordinator with event logistics for camps, clinics, and other programs as needed
  • Prepare and manage travel logistics, including transportation, equipment transfers, event overviews, and serving as liaison with event facilities
  • Organize camp and event registration and logistics, identifying opportunities to improve processes
  • Support inventory management for program assets, including ordering projections
  • Manage reporting platforms for camp registrations and check-in processes
  • Build strong connections with staff and participants to provide an engaging and enjoyable development experience
  • Serve as a role model through positive attitude, respectful communication, professional appearance, and a strong work ethic
  • Lead and manage first-aid protocols on-site for all program events
  • Collaborate with the team to promote a safe, fun, and supportive environment aligned with the Thunder’s Youth Basketball mission
  • Foster skill development, teamwork, collaboration, and character-building in participants through effective coaching and mentorship
  • Uphold ethical and professional behavior with participants, families, team members, leadership, and facility partners, reflecting the Thunder’s core values
  • Ensure participant welfare and resolve participant-related issues through clear and consistent communication with supervisors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Proficient in Excel and eager to learn additional programs
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to complete tasks independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent listening skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with children ages 6-14
  • Coaching or playing experience is a plus
  • CPR/AED certification is preferred

Schedule

The work schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the season. The primary work location is the Thunder corporate office at Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City, with some events requiring travel throughout Oklahoma. Events may take place in both indoor and outdoor venues with varying temperatures.

Physical demands

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Bending, packing, and navigating stairs
  • Performing basketball drills

Additional details

  • This is a part-time hourly position reporting to the Youth Programs Coordinator
  • A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation are required
