Young Carer Support Worker
About the role
Carers Northumberland is seeking a Young Carer Support Worker to provide 1-to-1 support and group activities in schools, build positive relationships with young carers, and work closely with school staff, families, and other professionals.
Responsibilities
- Offer 1-to-1 support and group activities in schools
- Build trusted relationships with young carers
- Support young carers in understanding and managing the impact of their caring role
- Help young carers increase their confidence and resilience
- Work closely with school staff, families, and other professionals
- Shape the Young Carer Service
Requirements
- Experience of working with children and young people is essential
- Passionate about supporting young carers
- Empathetic, patient, non-judgmental, resilient, and outcome-focused
Qualifications
Applicants should have a good understanding of the needs of young carers and the ability to work effectively with them and their families.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to build trust and rapport with young carers
- Knowledge of local services and resources
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of young carers
Benefits
The role offers a competitive salary of £28,500 per annum (pro rata), 22.5 hours per week, based at Central Office, 107 & 109 Station Road, Ashington, NE63 8RS (Hybrid working currently in place).
