Responsibilities

The Young Adult Peer Mentor is responsible for engaging with individuals served and facilitating their participation in the ASD Wraparound Service. The overall goal is to help individuals who have a serious mental illness achieve their maximum potential while living in the community. The Young Adult Peer Mentor strives to empower individuals served to take control of their lives in order to develop self-worth, life and work skills, social skills, and self-esteem.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with transition age youth/adults preferred.
  • Diagnosis of ASD and/or lived experience with mental illness or trauma.
  • Experience in navigating any of the community-based systems and teaching people who are involved with these systems preferred.
  • Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and reliable vehicle for all working hours required.
  • Must have familiarity with internet, word processing, and email systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay

Salary Range: $24.00-$28.00 per hour.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with one day per week scheduled from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Travel Requirements

Regular travel is required to meet with clients and provide services in community homes throughout Western Massachusetts, including the Berkshires region.
