Young Adult Career Advisor, Flagstone Family Center
About the role
The Young Adult Career Advisor works under the supervision of the Assistant Program Manager. They conduct initial assessments, administer career inventories, and facilitate workshops. The role also involves recruiting volunteers, assisting clients in accessing educational and recreational opportunities, and providing advocacy and counseling services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessment of participant’s family situations and needs
- Administer career inventory surveys and personality tests
- Recruit volunteer professionals and arrange for participants to “job shadow”
- Create and maintain client files
- Aid parenting youth in researching and accessing educational and recreational opportunities
- Assist clients in attaining their goals by identifying and locating community resources
- Follow-up with clients and with referral organizations regarding client contact and progress
- Counsel clients regularly either through meetings in CAMBA offices
- Break through barriers to client goals and assist clients in advocating for themselves
- Recommend and implement strategies to persuade clients to participate more fully in the process
- Reach out and market the program to the community in order to refer clients
- Facilitate workshops (Life Skills, College Explorations, Work Exploration)
- Act as client liaison/client advocate with outside organizations regarding education, healthcare, housing, legal issues, etc.
- Prepare marketing materials for the program
- Prescreen clients face-to-face for eligibility
- Assist clients in completing applications for jobs and job preparation programs
- Assist clients in completing all CAMBA intake applications and forms
- Review all documentation establishing client’s eligibility for program and make file copies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (e.g., B.A., B.S.W.) in social work or a related field and/or equivalent experience
