Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee CPE programs (Levels I, II, and Certified Educator Candidate) across multiple delivery networks.
- Partner with the System Director and administrative staff to manage daily operations.
- Lead strategic planning and innovation for system-wide CPE initiatives.
- Develop and implement curriculum, preceptor training, and faculty professional development.
- Ensure compliance with ACPE accreditation standards.
- Teach, supervise, and mentor CPE students (Levels I, II, and Certified Educator Candidates).
- Evaluate student progress and facilitate interdisciplinary learning.
- Support clinical integration of spiritual care education into patient care teams.
- Develop curricula and educational resources to support student formation.
- Manage program budgets, admissions, onboarding, and scheduling.
- Collaborate with HR on recruitment, evaluation, and professional development of CPE staff.
- Maintain accurate records, portfolios, and reports for accreditation and internal review.
- Partner with chaplaincy teams, clinical staff, and leadership to strengthen integration of spiritual care.
- Promote the program through outreach, marketing, and community engagement.
Qualifications
- Education: Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience: 5-10 years of healthcare chaplaincy experience providing direct pastoral care. 3-5 years of experience in CPE education and spiritual care within healthcare.
- Licensure: Certification as an ACPE Certified Educator or Phase II Certified Educator Candidate required. Board Certification as a Chaplain (APC, NACC, NAJC, CASC) required. Ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized faith group.
- Skills: Emotional and spiritual maturity with ability to serve in a diverse, multi-faith, high-acuity healthcare environment. Strong teaching, supervisory, and mentoring skills. Demonstrated ability to manage programs, budgets, and accreditation processes. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.
