YMCA Swim Instructor - Shrewsbury

POSITION SUMMARY

The YMCA of the Roses is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to provide high-quality swim lessons in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, following lesson plans provided for each class level. - Develops and maintains positive relationships with program participants and parents/caregivers while supporting them in achieving their goals. - Relays information regarding participants' progress as well as other programs to parents/caregivers, when appropriate, while maintaining a friendly and warm atmosphere. - Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, parent handbooks, certificates). - Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. - Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Swim Instructor I

- Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification - Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance. - Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance.

Swim Instructor II

- Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification - Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance. - Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance. - High School Diploma - 3 years teaching swim lessons experience OR completion of YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (YSLI) Training.

Swim Instructor III

- Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification - Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance. - Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance. - High School Diploma - Meet all requirements for Level II - 5 years of experience teaching swim lessons - 3 years of experience supervising a staff team

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques. - Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
