YMCA Summer Camp Counselor - Multiple Locations - East side or West side

About the role

The Y’s mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. We are seeking Seasonal Camp Counselors who love spending time with children and can share their experiences and knowledge to make a real difference.

Responsibilities

• Implement and deliver camp activities
• Work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions
• Ensure safety and supervision of campers
• Engage in recreational activities such as sports, games, and outdoor recreation
• Lead singing, skits, and other creative activities
• Provide support and guidance to campers

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• One year experience working with children in a day camp setting preferred
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups

Qualifications

• Experience with outdoor recreation, songs, music, skits, sports, aquatics, and games

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of child development and safety practices

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The position runs from the end of May through mid-August.
