Yiddish Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Yiddish-English phone interpreter to work remotely from home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate interpretations of conversations between Yiddish and English speakers.
• Speak clearly and use proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during emergencies.
• Adapt to various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
• Ensure confidentiality and follow client instructions.
• Provide cultural sensitivity and handle sensitive topics.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Yiddish and English with cultural understanding.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain neutral and objective during interpreting sessions.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Adaptable to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write Yiddish and English.
