German Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is a company dedicated to breaking down language and cultural barriers. We employ interpreters to enhance the lives of limited-English speakers, the Deaf, and the Hard-of-Hearing. This role allows you to work remotely from your home.

Responsibilities

• Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
• Deliver interpretation services via video and expediently type data on a dedicated device.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the video and audio interpreting sessions.
• Remain calm during video and audio interpreting sessions in the event of incoherent or upset callers, especially in emergency situations like 911 calls.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
• Follow client instructions and interact only with the client when necessary.
• Understand and apply protocol and terminology for various industries, including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.

Qualifications

• Fluency in German and English with a strong understanding of associated cultural dynamics.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to maintain accuracy during interpretation.
• Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, remain neutral, and handle sensitive topics.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation preferred.
• Able to adapt to any LLS technology enhancements that improve service delivery.
• At least 18 years old.
• Licensed to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages (highly preferred).

Pay

$15 - $17 per hour. For Colorado applicants, the expected pay range is $15.16 - $19.29 per hour.

Schedule

This is a remote position. The Interpreter works from his/her home-office. It is essential to ensure a quiet & secure environment.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Desktop / Laptop Computers with any of the following Operating Systems: Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android) are acceptable.
• Smartphones (iOS or Android) are also acceptable.
• Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
• High speed Internet connection for work related electronic communication.
• Must have access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position in front of a computer and webcam the majority of the workday.
• Must use a headset for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to operate company provided software and systems to perform all aspects of the job.
• Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• May be exposed to moderate noise levels; i.e. computer, audio, telephone.
