About the role
The teacher will implement district-approved early-childhood curriculum, create and maintain a positive, academically focused classroom, and support school and district goals while adhering to LCSD Professional Standards for Licensed Employees.
Responsibilities
- Administer district curriculum aligned with Nevada State Standards.
- Ensure all students learn in a respectful, safe environment.
- Develop and deliver effective lessons; analyze student progress and provide individualized instruction.
- Comply with IEPs and other special-services mandates.
- Manage classroom discipline to ensure safety.
- Contribute to the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) process.
- Follow assessment regulations and guidelines.
- Foster a positive classroom climate.
- Collaborate professionally with administration, staff, parents, and community.
- Integrate technology into instruction.
- Adhere to the Student Bill of Rights.
- Participate in Multi-tiered Systems of Support to meet individual student needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in providing specially designed instruction.
- Guide learning toward curriculum goals and communicate clear objectives.
- Use varied instructional techniques aligned with objectives.
- Attend IEP meetings and collaborate on present levels, goals, and benchmarks.
- Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
- Improve professional competence through ongoing development.
- Communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Perform other job-related duties assigned by the administrator.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Early Childhood/Pre-K license or endorsement.
- Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education, certified in the relevant subject area.
Physical and mental demands
- Strength, dexterity, coordination, and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
- Strength and stamina to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods.
- Dexterity and coordination to handle files, paper, and occasional lifting of materials (up to 25 pounds).
- Reaching for items above and below waist and head level; bending, squatting, and stooping.
- Manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate computers, projectors, SmartBoards, tablets, and other educational technology.
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person or by telephone.
- Reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals with disabilities.
Working conditions
- Climate-controlled classrooms and outdoor weather with temperatures ranging from mild to extreme.
- Exposure to noise levels from moderate to very loud on occasional to frequent basis.
- Crowded environments.
- Potential hazards: classroom furniture, playground/office equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals, and power/hand-operated machinery.
