Description
Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) is a nonprofit dedicated to reducing social isolation among older adults in Chicago. Volunteers interested in a year-of-service experience can join older adults in fostering friendships and celebrating life.
Responsibilities
- Visit 25-30 older adults twice a month for a year in a specific area of Chicago
- Share friendship through in-person visits, LBFE parties, and special events
- Work on a team with other year-of-service volunteers
- Participate in regular training sessions
- Manage a special project
- Attend LBFE organizational meetings, planning, and other programs
Requirements
- Full-time or part-time commitment
- Monthly stipend for living expenses
- Expense coverage for visits or engagements with older adults
- Ability to drive or arrange transportation for older adults
Qualifications
- Recently retired, looking for a gap year, building work experience, or seeking a reset
