About the Role
The Assistant Teacher (YCC) supports the development of 2 and 3-year-old children intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. The program aims to:
- Develop visual, tactile, and auditory senses
- Develop concentration
- Develop eye-hand coordination
- Encourage two hands working together, guided by intellect
- Encourage purposeful movement
- Aid the development of spatial relationships
Responsibilities
- Assist the Montessori Lead Teacher with the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth and development of students
- Prepare and maintain a Montessori environment, including developmentally appropriate materials and activities
- Assist with maintaining a classroom true to the Montessori philosophy, fostering a community of respect and kindness
- Demonstrate warm regard, self-regulation, integrity, curiosity, responsibility, and creativity with respect for racial, cultural, and gender diversity
- Prepare, clean, and maintain the room environment and materials daily
- Model the school’s expectations of grace and courtesy
- Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions for the position, classroom, or level
- Acquire professional training through educational conferences, workshops, and related activities
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children aged 2 and 3, preferably in a Montessori or educational setting
- CPR/First Aid/MA certification
- Energetic, dedicated, and able to engage in all aspects of the program
- Friendly, patient, and warm demeanor
- Ability to communicate positively and engagingly with parents
- Team player with a commitment to equitable education, anti-bias, and anti-racist practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with children and adults
- Ability to adapt to various settings and environments
- Basic understanding of child development (cognitive, physical, social, and emotional)
- Physical ability and stamina to support small children throughout the day
Pay
The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000 annually, based on skills and experience.
