About the Role
As a Yard Spotter at Distribution Center Services (DCS), you will move yard mules and trailers within H-E-B Retail Support Centers. This position includes completing mule and/or tractor training as required. Note: This is not the Delivery Driver Trainee program used to train full-time Drivers.
Responsibilities
- Spots trailers at dock doors throughout the Retail Support Center
- Transports merchandise throughout the Retail Support Center
- Duties may be modified at any time based on business needs
- Performs other job-related tasks as requested by a supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations
Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older
- 3+ years of driving experience with a valid driver’s license (mandatory)
- No suspended or revoked driver licenses, permits, or privileges in any state/county (mandatory)
- Documented proof of a good driving record; must obtain a Life History MVR from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) if selected for an interview
- 3-year clear MVR, including moving violations, tickets, or (chargeable) accidents (personal vehicle included); record reviewed for preventability based on H-E-B standards (mandatory)
- No DWI/DUI or felony convictions ever in lifetime (mandatory)
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs, signals, and directions (mandatory per Regulation 398.3 (c)(4))
- Familiarity with Section 2 of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook (mandatory)
- Advanced customer service and interpersonal skills (mandatory)
- Ability to work with little or no supervision (mandatory)
- Maintain an excellent attendance and punctuality record (mandatory)
- Successful passing of Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, DOT drug screen, background check, and verification of work history (required prior to job offer)
- Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License upon hire (mandatory)
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen, and meet all DOT driver qualifications (mandatory)
- Ability to successfully complete all phases of the Spotter Trainee Program (mandatory)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent (preferred)
Schedule
Work primarily on weekends, including nights and holidays.
