Full-time seasonal position supporting the overall functionality and maintenance of the feedyard facility.

About the role

The Yard Maintenance team ensures the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the entire feedyard facility. Working closely with the Yard Maintenance Manager, you will identify and develop a maintenance schedule that promotes preventative maintenance practices. This role collaborates with all feedyard departments to maintain the highest quality care and upkeep of the feedyard, ensuring livestock welfare and contributing to the overall success of the team.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for feedyard layout and construction of yard improvements.
• Perform repair and maintenance of watering systems, fences, equipment, yard signage, and vehicles.
• Maintain and repair road surfaces, bunk pads, pens, and alleys by filling holes and removing accumulated waste and debris.
• Ensure equipment operation by completing servicing requirements such as fueling, checking fluid levels, filters, greasing, and cleaning equipment based on maintenance schedules.
• Identify and communicate maintenance needs and general cleanliness issues to the Yard Maintenance Manager.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
• Promote, support, and participate in all company policies, procedures, and programs.
• Perform other duties and job assignments necessary for feedyard effectiveness.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Exposure to moving machinery, industrial equipment, vehicular and livestock traffic.
• Physical tasks include standing, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, shoveling, and operating equipment and heavy machinery.
• Considerable exposure to weather conditions such as rain, sleet, snow, hail, heat, cold, wind, and dust.
• Daily close proximity to livestock.
• Occasional physical exertion during administration of medical attention.
