Yard Jockey / Loader

About the role

This role involves operating as a Yard Jockey to move trailers safely and efficiently within a distribution center yard, supporting warehouse operations to meet gate times and enhance customer satisfaction. The position includes working closely with a Professional Driver Trainer during initial training to master the C&S Way.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections (2%)
• Check yard inventory and verify trailers and contents (5%)
• Move empty and loaded trailers, including temperature verification (55%)
• Shuttle trailers for loading, unloading, and transport to wash bay (7%)
• Load bales, recycled paper, electronics, and pallets (25%)
• Load and unload reclaim trailers, perform fueling, and maintain equipment (11%)
• Maintain trailer temperatures, manage yard inventory, and ensure safety and cleanliness of equipment

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain CDL within 90 days of hire
• Experience maneuvering trailers with jockey wagons
• Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs, climb, and work in various temperatures
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and following instructions
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check

Additional information

Requires relevant experience (1-2 years), a high school diploma or GED, and a valid DOT physical. The role is on the third shift and may require working overtime and assisting in other departments as needed.
