Yard Jockey / Loader

About the role

The Yard Jockey is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within a distribution center yard, supporting warehouse operations to meet gate times and enhance customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-shift inspections (2%)
• Check yard inventory and verify trailer contents (5%)
• Move empty and loaded trailers, set and verify temperatures (55%)
• Shuttle trailers for loading/unloading (7%)
• Load bales, recycled paper, electronics, and pallets (10% & 15%)
• Load/unload reclaim trailers (5%)
• Drive jockey wagons, reposition trailers, and perform trailer and yard maintenance tasks

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days; experience maneuvering trailers with jockey wagons
• Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs., climb, and work in various temperatures
• Proficient in following instructions, safety procedures, and working courteously
• Experience in a warehouse environment preferred
• High school diploma or GED required

The role primarily operates in warehouse environments with cold, perishable, and grocery storage areas. No travel required. Candidates must pass a DOT physical, background check, and drug test. Excellent customer service, reliability, and professional presentation are essential.
