Yard Jockey

About the role

US Foods is one of the largest food distributors with a culture and history of promoting from within, excellent training programs and a continuous improvement focus. We are seeking a Yard Jockey to join our team.

Starting pay is $26.06. There are two positions available: Tuesday-Friday 8am-5:30pm and Saturday 5:30am-5:30pm, and Sunday-Thursday 1pm-11pm.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments
• Keep assigned equipment coupled
• Move trailers between buildings as directed by Router or Warehouse Supervisor
• Load, unload or merge loads between environments
• Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers
• Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and empty pallets
• Place backhauls in correct door to be unloaded by warehouse
• Make sure all equipment is paired and ready for next day's deliveries
• Work with mechanics nightly
• Attend all required company meetings
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift
• Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have valid driver's license issued by state of residence
• Minimum of six months Non-CDL commercial driving experience preferred
• Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
• Must be able to pass DOT physical
• Must be able to read and communicate in the English language
