Yard Jockey

About the Role

The Yard Jockey position is a multi-dimensional role supporting our growing nationwide chain of retail stores. This role focuses on yard management and execution, working closely with transportation, shipping, and receiving departments. We are seeking a flexible individual willing to step into various roles as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain flow of yard moves
• Conduct pre-trip inspection of equipment and communicate findings to the transportation team
• Keep work area clean, including proper disposal of trailer seals
• Facilitate daily yard checks to provide current inventory of trailers
• Stay on top of changing priorities
• Assist on the dock with inbound and outbound freight as needed
• Maintain trailer yard integrity and accuracy
• Secure and seal trailers as necessary
• Maintain a safe and professional work environment
• Work independently with minimal supervision
• Display good communication skills and ability to work well with others

Requirements

• CDL-A Certification preferred
• Satisfactory Driving Record
• Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
• Safety-driven mindset
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Adaptability to sudden changes in customer needs and operational goals
• Detail-oriented and accurate
• Good communication skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to work overtime, including weekends (mainly during peak season)

Qualifications

• High School/G.E.D. or equivalent
• Minimum two years of verifiable Commercial Driving experience

Pay

Starting at $21.00 per hour
