Yard Hostler FT - 2nd Shift - Ellenwood

About the role

The Yard Hostler is responsible for safely handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard and within an area.

Responsibilities

• Move and spot trailers to facilitate warehouse sorting and processing of material for shipment.
• Communicate with Inbound and Outbound Leads on trailer move prioritization.
• Document and perform trailer moves for both Inbound and Outbound operations.
• Conduct yard checks throughout the day for Inbound and Outbound trailers.
• Operate yard truck safely at speeds under 15 mph within the facility.
• Interact daily with facility personnel and comply with safety requirements.
• Ensure seals are on applicable trailers and track trailer inspections.
• Assist customer carriers with instruction and direction while on the yard.
• Maintain cleanliness of grounds and verify or report damages.
• Perform tasks such as working floor freight and mixed freight while maintaining accurate counts and attention to detail.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1-year related experience and/or training.
• Safe truck and trailer operating skills, including experience backing 53-foot trailers.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred; verifiable experience will be considered.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently.

Working Conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50–75 pounds.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and extreme cold, including year-round outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to climb in and out of vehicles and occasionally work at height.
• Continually loud noise in a fast-paced environment.
• Must execute all functions safely and comply with applicable safety regulations.

Schedule

2nd Shift – 3:00 pm to 12:00 am, Monday through Friday.
