Yard Driver DB01, 2nd Shift, Fort Smith, AR

Starting pay: $21.50/hr plus $2.00 shift premium. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm–12:00 am with occasional Saturdays.

About the role

This position is responsible for backing in and removing trailers from the dock, operating yard trucks, and moving trailers in and out of loading areas while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Back trailers for loading/unloading as required
• Move correct trailer from yard to door and door to yard
• Communicate with drivers in a respectful manner
• Set reefer units at appropriate settings and check if they will start
• Communicate with operations and follow instructions
• Safely secure trailers
• Report any fuel or oil leaks to maintenance
• Maintain cleanliness of the shuttle truck
• Perform pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at the beginning of shift
• Conduct lot checks as requested by management
• Refuel reefers and/or yard trucks as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience using a tractor-trailer to back trailers to and from loading and unloading docks
• At least 6 months of continuous work history within the past 2 years
• Clean safety record obtained through MVR clearance
• Valid state driver’s license with no DUI/DWI’s in the last 12 months
• At least 18 years of age
• Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation, including:
  • Tolerating extreme cold and extreme heat (9–12 hours per day)
  • Bending at waist and knees on a repetitive basis (9–12 hours per day)
  • Twisting and turning (9–12 hours per day)
  • Climbing in and out of truck cab on a continual basis (9–12 hours per day)
  • Walking extensively (9–12 hours per day)
