About the role
The Yard Driver, Non-CDL is responsible for moving tractor trailers to/from the loading docks and parking loaded or empty trailers in designated areas in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities
- Performs inspections and moves trailers safely following all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies
- Fuels, moves, and parks tractors and trailers to the docks
- Transports tractor trailers to offsite maintenance and/or inspection facilities; requires local city driving
- Secures trucks, trailers, and equipment always
- Completes all required documentation
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
- 6+ months steady work history
- Clean Class C Driver experience
- Internal candidates may be promoted with less than 6 months experience with good performance record in accordance with driver training program requirements
- Must be able to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position
- Valid non-commercial driver's license
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location
Pay & Schedule
- Pay: $19/hr base, + $2 additional premium once trained
- Shift: Sunday-Thursday, 1pm start time (typically 8-10hr shift)
