YARD DRIVER
About the Role
Efficiently move equipment throughout the lot, ensuring clear communication with relevant departments while diligently monitoring and updating the yard management system. Operate a yard spotting truck, place trailers in and out of doors, and oversee that trailers are correctly identified in the yard management system and in the correct location. Complete temperature and fuel level checks on trailers, uphold sanitation standards, and report any issues as needed. Work with the shipping and receiving and welcome center teams to ensure trailers are in their correct locations and set to their correct refer status.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate personal responsibility for and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain yard security in accordance with company requirements.
- Verify all trailers are secured at the end of shift and follow company guidelines for truck gate security and monitoring.
- Maintain a professional demeanor in appearance and communications at all times.
- Participate in staff and/or customer meetings as required.
- Take initiative to prevent non-conformities related to product, process, and quality systems.
- Identify and report any issues related to product, processes, and/or quality.
- Propose and implement solutions through appropriate channels.
- Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
- Participate in safety and educational training programs.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Yard spotting truck driving experience preferred.
- Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with assistance.
- Work in a temperature range from +50°F to -30°F with moderate noise levels.
- Lift overhead when required.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Attention to detail.
- Effective communication, vision, and hearing are essential for safety and productivity.
- Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment as required.
- Additional work hours may be requested by management.
- Operate a registered motor vehicle if part of daily tasks.
- Engage in frequent personal interaction and communication.
- Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.
- Follow verbal instructions, written instructions, and company policies.
- Be a self-starter, able to work independently and coordinate with others.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing stress and meeting productivity guidelines.
Schedule
Sat - Wed, 5AM - 1:30PM (plus overtime when needed).
Pay
$22 - $24 per hour.
