Y Sports Coach - Youth Development

About the role

The Fitness & Sports Instructor plays a crucial role in the Wellness Center and youth/adult sports programs. They are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, enforcing policies, and ensuring the safety of all participants.

Responsibilities

• Greet members and program participants professionally and use their names.
• Develop and deliver safe, age-appropriate lessons for sports programs.
• Motivate participants and identify and correct unsafe or hazardous activities.
• Enforce all posted guidelines and policies in the Fitness Center and Sports fields.
• Return all equipment to proper storage locations after each lesson.
• Record and maintain class attendance records.
• Attend all scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Secure coverage for shifts and notify supervisors of any necessary absences.
• Avoid inappropriate physical or verbal interactions with participants.
• Report any suspected mistreatment to the supervisor.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience/education in Health & Wellness and/or Sports field.
• Understanding of basic components of program curriculum.
• Knowledge of sport principles for youth, teens, and adults.
• Ability to adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of different skill levels.
• First Aid, CPR/AED certification within 90 days.
• Completion of Y required trainings including Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, One Y One Voice, and Blood-borne Pathogens.
• An outgoing and enthusiastic personality.
