About the Role

Raytheon’s Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to serve as the Radar Hardware (HW) Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for the XTR-2 program. This role involves leading a multi-discipline engineering team and providing technical oversight for hardware cost, schedule, and performance. The selected candidate will collaborate with program leadership, chief engineers, other IPT leads, subject matter experts, and the customer during Phase 1 of this multi-million-dollar contract.

Responsibilities

  • Own all hardware development for XTR-2 across four CDR-targeted subsystems: GaN TRIMM, DREX, APCU (Power Control Unit), and Pedestal Servo/Controller System.
  • Develop hardware designs, schematics, layouts, and mechanical elements for assigned subsystems.
  • Manage subsystem-level requirements decomposition, design, and verification planning based on system-level flow-down.
  • Maintain subsystem-level ICDs and ensure interface compliance.
  • Execute hardware analyses (thermal, mechanical, RF, EMI/EMC, power, reliability, etc.) for dedicated subsystems.
  • Work with MPM and CM teams to manage controlled product information (CPI) for supplier-provided designs, with final oversight for system-level integration.
  • Produce all subsystem-level artifacts required for CDR execution.
  • Identify and mitigate hardware risks (component maturity, manufacturability, supply chain, technology readiness, etc.).
  • Ensure hardware development adheres to XTR-2 program constraints (cost, schedule, performance).
  • Coordinate with corresponding IPTs to confirm requirement interpretation and design alignment.
  • Support integration planning, hardware deliverables for system-level integration events, and test readiness reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing project or program cost, schedule, and risk, or experience with Earned Value Management, Risk & Opportunity, Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), or Integrated Master Plan (IMP) tools.
  • Experience with proposal or capture efforts, technical and financial data, and reporting.
  • Experience presenting program and technical issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance required prior to start date (U.S. citizenship required).

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-starter with proactive goal-setting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience preparing customer and/or management-level briefings.
  • Experience with similar radar development programs.
  • Earned Value Management System Certification or PMX Level 6 Certification.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $132,400 – $251,600 USD. The final offer considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
