XTR-2 Lead Systems Engineer
About the role
The Long Range Radars Department within Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for the new X-Band Transportable Radar-2 program (XTR-2).
Responsibilities
- Maintain accountability for the system requirements baseline
- Allocate and manage system performance margins across all subsystems
- Develop and lead the execution of the system modeling and simulation plan
- Absess and clearly communicate performance impacts associated with technical risks
- Conduct system-level trades to ensure allocated system and subsystem performance requirements are met
- Drive consistency and coherence of the system design across IPTs, CPTs, and key stakeholders
- Ensure robust systems engineering representation on applicable engineering boards to uphold technical rigor and mission alignment
- Partner with the Program Office to ensure the engineering team aligns with program cost, schedule, and technical objectives
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience leading systems engineering teams and initiatives
- Experience in requirements development within DoD programs
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant field
- Professional experience in the aerospace/defense industry, particularly with missile defense systems and tracking radar sensors
- Demonstrated expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and familiarity with tools such as Cameo
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and present confidently to customers and senior leadership
- Experience in schedule development, action item management, requirement change management and overall development and progress metrics
- Proposal support experience including writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and supplier/vendor integration to support subsystem designs
- Ability to navigate organizational structures and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve program challenges
