X96544 Supervisor HVAC & Plumbing, Tahlequah

Major Duties

• Plans and assigns work orders and projects.
• Estimates labor and material costs for each project.
• Maintains building automation systems.
• Gathers estimates and purchases parts and equipment.
• Maintains records of work performed.
• Develops HVAC and Plumbing maintenance schedules.
• Assists other personnel in the performance of repair and maintenance tasks as needed.
• Maintains assigned tools and equipment.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
• Covers state mandated annual inspections for pressured vessels and equipment.

Supervisory Controls

• The Facilities Maintenance Director and Assistant Director assign work in terms of general instructions.
• The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Complexity/Scope of Work

• The work consists of varied supervisory and technical duties.
• The variety of equipment to be maintained contributes to the complexity of the position.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping.
• The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
• The work is typically performed in an office or stockroom, in a variety of university buildings, and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
• The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals.
• Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility

• This position has direct supervision over Senior HVAC Technician, Refrigeration Mechanics, Plumbing technicians and Automation technicians (10).

Qualifications

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually an additional 3-4 years of relevant work experience service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Journeymen License and Universal EPA Refrigerant handler’s certification card.
