X-Ray Technologist - Hourly/Per Diem - Multiple Positions

About the role

The Department of Radiology Diagnostic at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks an hourly/per diem X-Ray Technologist/TH Medical Radiographer I.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging including general x-ray, portables, fluoroscopy and all other applicable diagnostic exams.
• Familiarize with all diagnostic equipment including portable and fluoroscopic equipment and the operating room.
• Produce high quality images efficiently regardless of volume.
• Perform exams in accordance with established protocols.
• Provide assistance to external and internal customers, and provide excellent customer service.
• Ensure accurate patient identification during exams.
• Handle emergent situations effectively.
• Adhere to ALARA principles.
• Teach House Staff or other personnel in the technical aspects of imaging equipment.
• Use computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS.
• Burn CD’s and DVD’s when necessary.
• Maintain scheduling flexibility as hours may change based on departmental needs.
• Comply with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and department policies and procedures, including behavior principles.
• Follow hospital/infection control policies and procedures.
• Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients.
• Adhere to time and attendance policies.

Qualifications

• New York State Licensure
• ARRT registration
• Associate of Applied Science Degree or equivalent
• 2+ years experience in all diagnostic x-ray procedures
• Hospital experience preferred
