About the role

A Fitness Instructor at Miraval Berkshires is responsible for leading individuals or groups in exercise activities designed to improve overall health, fitness, and well-being. They develop and deliver safe, effective, and engaging workout programs, demonstrate proper exercise techniques, monitor participant performance, and provide motivation and support to help clients achieve their fitness goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead group fitness classes or one-on-one training sessions.
• Design exercise programs tailored to participants' fitness levels and goals.
• Demonstrate proper use of fitness equipment and exercise techniques.
• Monitor client progress and adjust programs as needed.
• Ensure a safe workout environment and enforce gym safety policies.
• Educate clients on health, wellness, and fitness best practices.
• Motivate and encourage participants to maintain healthy lifestyles.
• Stay current with fitness trends, certifications, and industry standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science/Physiology, Recreation, Athletic Administration, Physical Education, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated relative experience in a Health & Wellness fields to include: yoga, meditation and fitness.
• Experience in proper use and management of cardiovascular and weight training equipment.
• Ability to foster a positive work environment and encourage collaboration and teamwork.
• A commitment to making an active and meaningful contribution to the culture of the team.
• The individual should be capable of lifting moderate loads and performing equipment set-ups for various activities.
• One or more professional fitness certifications accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) such as NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, AFAA in Group Fitness (Personal Training in addition is a plus).
• American Red Cross AED, CPR and First Aid certification.
