About the role

This position is part of the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains, providing the business and technical expertise to help customers succeed. Partner teams own the strategy, recruiting, development, and growth of key technology and consulting partners. Together, they provide customers with the expertise and scale needed to build innovative solutions for complex challenges.

The AWS Partner Core Tech team is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to lead the worldwide technical strategy for AWS Specializations—a portfolio of 44+ competency programs that validate partner expertise and serve as the primary trust signal for customers navigating a 140,000+ partner ecosystem. This role is a unique opportunity to serve as the steward of that trust at scale, ensuring the AWS Specialization badge remains the definitive mark of partner quality while making it faster and easier for qualified partners to earn. You will define automation priorities, build cross-functional mechanisms spanning multiple programs, and drive program launches from strategy through post-launch success.

You will collaborate directly with AWS business teams and partners to shape the future of specializations during a period of significant transformation—consolidating legacy specializations, expanding AI-powered validation, and launching the largest competency categories in program history. By leveraging emerging technologies, including AI-powered validation agents, you will scale program integrity and partner experience while pioneering the use of AWS’s own AI services to power internal operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the worldwide technical strategy for AWS Specializations, driving competency launches, automation, and continuous program improvement across a portfolio that directly enables partner business growth.
  • Design automation solutions (including AI/agent-based validation) to accelerate application processing.
  • Build and operate cross-functional mechanisms across multiple programs that improve partner experience, unblock validation backlogs, and strengthen program integrity—evolving validation criteria to adopt AWS-wide approaches for measuring partner contributions and customer impact while maintaining a high quality bar.
  • Lead end-to-end program launches—from requirements definition through enablement, go-to-market, and post-launch success measurement—orchestrating multi-stakeholder launches at flagship events.
  • Navigate program portfolio evolution, including sunsetting legacy specializations and standing up new categories aligned to emerging technology domains.
  • Serve as the technical liaison for integrating Specializations with broader AWS go-to-market and partner programs—including partner recommendation engines, AWS Marketplace, and partner program qualification frameworks—ensuring Specialization designations are leveraged as a key criterion for partner discovery, customer-facing recommendations, and program eligibility at scale.
  • Drive fraud detection and compliance enforcement mechanisms that protect program credibility—ensuring the Specialization badge remains an earned mark of quality.
  • Collaborate with AWS business stakeholders and partners to shape the future direction of specializations and competency programs, connecting technical strategy to customer outcomes.
  • Publish thought leadership (blogs, announcements, technical content) communicating program changes, new launches, and best practices to the partner community.
  • Travel up to 25% to engage with strategic partners, deliver in-person enablement, and represent the program at AWS events.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures.
  • 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in the software or Internet industries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
  • Experience working with end user or developer communities.
  • Experience managing relationships with customers and partners.
