WUNC Due South Producer
Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States | Full-time | Salary: $65,000–$78,000 per year
About the role
The Due South Producer creates and produces content for Due South, WUNC’s daily news and public affairs program, which includes interviews, analysis, and features on a variety of subjects (news, politics, culture, etc.) of interest in North Carolina. The team actively works to ensure a diversity of stories and participants are selected for production, and that content is relevant and accessible to diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
- Select and research show topics
- Pre-interview and book guests
- Write scripts and promotional materials
- Edit audio recordings for broadcasts
- Create content for digital and social media platforms
- Participate in fundraising activities and station events
- Occasionally fill in for the Executive Producer
- Collaborate with co-hosts and producer colleagues
Requirements
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Creativity and initiative
- Demonstrated ability to plan and meet deadlines, working with materials from a variety of sources and collaborators
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to include diverse stories and participants in programming
- Familiarity with North Carolina news and culture
- Passion for creating compelling conversation, analysis, and storytelling
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of radio broadcasting equipment and digital editing programs
- Experience with public radio or related not-for-profit fundraising
- Experience as an audio producer on a broadcast show or podcast in public media
