This Health and Human Performance academic internship provides real-world, hands-on experience in setting up, running, and analyzing exercise tests and assessments.
Responsibilities
- Collect, record, and manage assessment data while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Analyze assessment results and assist in developing individualized recommendations to improve health, fitness, and athletic performance.
- Meet one-on-one with student-athletes to explain assessment results and discuss performance-related implications.
- Assist with pre-season, mid-season, and post-season testing for athletic teams.
- Prepare and calibrate assessment equipment and ensure testing areas are organized and safe.
- Assist with exercise prescription development under faculty supervision.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to professional reports for coaches and athletes.
- Collaborate with HHP faculty and athletic staff to coordinate testing schedules and athlete follow-up.
- Develop professional skills in communication, data interpretation, and evidence-based exercise science practices.
Qualifications
- Full-time UPIKE undergraduate student.
- Preference for students interested in Health and Human Performance or other biomedical pathways.
Skills
- Computer Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Social Media & New Technology.
- Other Skills: Attention to detail, strong active listening abilities, written & verbal communication, customer-focused, willingness to learn new things.

Work Conditions
- Heat, cold, odors/smoke, dust, machinery, noise, humidity, electrical currents.
Physical Demands
- Keyboarding, reaching/handling, stooping/kneeling, crouching/crawling, pushing up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 50 lbs., balancing.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, mostly within the window of 8 a.m.–5 p.m. (hours vary depending on workload).
Pay
$8.75/hour.
Number of positions: 1–2. Student must work a minimum of 80 hours in the semester and enroll concurrently in CVL 401: Integrated Internship Experience, successfully completing the course.
