WS - Campus Engagement Crew Member

About the role

The Campus Engagement Crew Member supports campus life by officiating intramural sports, assisting with event production, and overseeing the Student Lounge. They help ensure events run smoothly, provide a welcoming presence, and maintain student spaces. This role offers hands-on experience in teamwork, leadership, and campus engagement while developing practical event management and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Officiate intramural games, maintaining safety, fairness, and fun
• Assist with setup, breakdown, and equipment management for games
• Keep accurate records of participation, scores, and incidents
• Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants
• Assist with the physical setup and teardown of campus events
• Operate basic event technology after training (sound systems, lights, etc.)
• Provide on-site support to ensure smooth event execution
• Serve as a campus ambassador, offering assistance and direction to attendees
• Monitor and manage the Student Lounge during scheduled hours
• Check out equipment and supplies; maintain cleanliness and safety
• Engage with students to promote upcoming programs and services

Qualifications

• Must be a current UPIKE student in good standing

Preferred skills

• Proficiency with Word, Canva, social media and new technology
• Familiarity with Connect Teams
• Strong active listening abilities
• Customer-focused
• Willingness to learn new things

Schedule

Weekly hours will range from 2 to 6, depending on event and game schedules. Student Lounge coverage will account for up to 2 of those hours weekly. Schedules are variable (day, evening, weekends) and require open communication with the supervisor to coordinate availability.

Work conditions & physical demands

Work conditions: Heat, Cold, Noise.

Physical demands: Keyboarding; reaching/handling; stooping/kneeling; crouching/crawling; pushing up to 30 lbs; pulling up to 30 lbs; lifting up to 50 lbs.

$8.75/hour
