About the role
FoxNews.com is looking for an experienced US News Writer to join our team. You love breaking news and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You have breaking news reporting experience and understand the issues and stories that resonate with the Fox News audience. You're building a rolodex of networks across America from police to politics to pop culture. You are skilled at delivering several stories accurately on a daily basis, mainly covering breaking news along with news of the day/trending news. You will have the opportunity to do original and exclusive reporting.
Schedule
8:00 AM ET – 4:00 PM ET, Monday-Friday. This is NOT an on-air role.
Responsibilities
- Cover breaking news events, writing quickly and precisely to help solidify Fox News as the go-to site for breaking news
- Pitch and cover stories that resonate with FoxNews.com's audience, aggregating with complete and proper attribution
- Pursue original and exclusive stories through close contact with sources
- Conduct and edit original, on-camera video interviews
- Present all original, breaking, and aggregated stories in an accessible, consistent, and compelling style
- Collaborate closely with editors and fellow writers/reporters
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
- Newsroom experience
- Ability to work holidays, extra days, and longer hours and possess an "on-call" mentality
- Ability to work in emergency and/or breaking news conditions
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally when breaking news warrants
- Ability to deliver accurate copy under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
- Firm grasp of current news and events
- Strong understanding of the FoxNews.com audience
- Firm grasp of SEO story production and content development
- Knowledge of AP style
- Experience with PhotoShop and knowledge of video (iPhone) editing skills preferred
- Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM) to accelerate research, fact-gathering, and story framing in a fast-moving news cycle
Pay
$60,000.00 – $80,000.00 annually, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location.
