News Writer

About the role

The News Writer produces breaking news content and other features, working closely with the team to take assignments, suggest story ideas, and pitch unique angles. Successful candidates will create well-researched, engaging content under tight deadlines and have a deep love and knowledge of entertainment and pop culture.

Responsibilities

• Write breaking entertainment news stories and other features (90%)
• Cover events, conduct interviews, and handle other duties as assigned (10%)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, a related field, or equivalent training/experience
• 1–5 years of relevant experience
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Strong knowledge of entertainment, pop culture, and the EW brand
• Ability to generate fresh story ideas and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with SEO, social media, content management systems, and Photoshop

Pay

New York: $69,000 per year
