Newswriter/Producer
About the role
Become a part of CBS LA's Newsroom, where you'll join a team of passionate individuals who co-create moments that matter. CBS LA produces over 90 hours of news each week, and you'll play a crucial role in the overall CBS LA brand and station growth.
Responsibilities
- Write scripts, edit video, create graphics, and assist in the overall production of stories for the Newscasts.
- Work closely with producers and managers in the control room with the ability to add to the editorial process in a breaking and live news environment.
- Generate story ideas and actively participate in editorial meetings.
- Show strong editorial judgment, effective communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Use multi-platform tools such as social media & our OTT platforms to reach viewers and deliver news.
Requirements
- At least five years' experience, preferably in a top 20 market.
- Newswriting, line producing, editing, and storytelling experience.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Maintain a steadfast commitment to accuracy and fairness.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic, quickly changing environment.
- Experience with Avid iNEWS, and Grass Valley Edius System is a plus.
Qualifications
Membership in WGA is required.
Skills
Excellent writing skills and copy-editing ability needed.

Pay
Hiring Salary Range: $76,596.00 - 104,832.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
Schedule
Available to work any shift as assigned in a 24/7 newsroom, including weekends & overnights.
