About the role
The Editorial Writer, Part-Time is responsible for producing engaging, high-quality written content covering the Seattle Kraken, including feature stories, practice coverage, game recaps, and other editorial content. This role requires strong storytelling skills, a passion for hockey, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate, and compelling content that connects with fans and supports organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Write feature stories, player profiles, game recaps, practice reports, and other editorial content related to the Seattle Kraken.
- Attend Seattle Kraken practices, games, media availabilities, and team events assigned to gather information and develop content.
- Conduct interviews with players, coaches, staff, and other relevant stakeholders to create compelling stories.
- Produce accurate, timely, and engaging content that aligns with organizational voice, brand standards, and editorial strategy.
- Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, Social Media, and Hockey Operations teams to support content initiatives and organizational priorities.
- Stay current on NHL news, trends, statistics, and storylines to identify relevant content opportunities.
- Meet deadlines while managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of writing experience, preferably in a professional sports, media, journalism, or editorial environment.
- Strong knowledge of the NHL, hockey terminology, players, and league operations.
- Demonstrated ability to write compelling long-form and short-form content for diverse audiences.
- Experience conducting interviews and gathering information from multiple sources.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by team schedules and events.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
- Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
- Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.
Pay
In accordance with Washington's Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected salary range for this position is $27/hr - $31/hr. Actual base pay will depend on employee's experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This role is classified as part-time, non-exempt (hourly).

Schedule & working conditions
