Wound Clinical Nurse Consultant

About the Role

Every Alfred Health nurse must practice in accordance with the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework. The Professional Practice Framework defines the elements of nursing practice that improve the care and experience of our patients and aligns with the Patient’s Come First Strategy. It is comprised of five domains that are crucial to maintain standards, lead change, and add value to healthcare: Care, Leadership, Professional Development, Workforce, Research, and Informatics.

• Provide leadership and expertise for wound management across Alfred Health with a focus on pressure injury prevention, education, wound product review, and rationalisation based on contemporary practice.
• Exemplify and promote clinical practice in wound management.
• Provide consultation to clinical staff for patients with complex wounds where appropriate across Alfred Health sites as required.
• Evaluate patient care outcomes in relation to wound management.
• Liaise with clinical nurses, nurse managers, medical, and allied health to identify learning needs of staff and to determine priorities for educational programs.
• Provide leadership for Alfred Health in pressure injury prevention and management.
• Support quality activities and clinical research to promote knowledge development and evidence-based clinical practice and improved outcomes for patients.
• Assume responsibility as a self-directed professional for your own continuing education.

Requirements

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Wound Care experience is essential.
• Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in Wound Management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other services and departments in the hospital and community.
• Commitment to quality activities/research process and application to practice.
• A postgraduate qualification in wound management is preferred.
