About the role
We are seeking a Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team at MediLodge of Richmond. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing comprehensive nursing care for residents, while also supervising and guiding clinical staff in wound care.
Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the ostomy care for patients on units.
- Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff for complex wound drainage, drainage confinement, skin protection, and the prevention of pressure necrosis (skin deterioration and skin loss).
- Develops and conducts educational programs for staff.
- Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs.
- Develops a patient care plan and determines the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement the care plan.
- Selects the stoma (opening) site on the patient prior to surgery, based on the patient's anatomy, activity level, and lifestyle.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
- Licenses/Certification: Valid RN license in the state employed, valid CPR certification.
- Experience: Two years of nursing experience preferred.

- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
