Role Overview
The Wound Care Nurse coordinates and manages the Wound and Foot Care program, including performing wound, foot, and toenail care. Responsibilities involve leading the Wound Care Team, educating staff, collaborating with medical and interdisciplinary teams, and setting facility goals for skin integrity. The nurse collects and analyzes data, initiates improvement processes, and prepares reports for quality improvement committees and leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Alaska RN license and BLS certification upon hire
- Within one year, must obtain a specialized wound care certification (e.g., CWCN, CWON, CWS, etc.)
- At least 2 years of healthcare facility experience
Key Duties
- Perform wound, foot, and toenail care
- Facilitate team collaboration and staff education
- Set and monitor program goals for skin and wound care
- Analyze data, evaluate outcomes, and lead improvement initiatives
- Prepare and present reports to committees and leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of wound care experience
