Responsibilities

Wound Assessment and Management:
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments for orthopedic patients.
- Develop and implement evidence-based wound care plans tailored to each patient's specific needs.
- Monitor wound progress, document changes, and adjust treatment plans as required.
- Administer wound care treatments, including debridement, dressing changes, and infection control measures.

Collaboration and Consultation:
- Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Provide expert consultation and education to the healthcare team regarding wound care best practices.
- Act as a resource for staff on wound assessment and management.
- Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques, prevention strategies, and self-care instructions.
- Ensure patients understand the importance of adherence to treatment plans and follow-up appointments.
- Research and Quality Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in wound care and orthopedics.
- Participate in research initiatives and quality improvement projects related to wound care and orthopedics.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR) for all patients.
- Adhere to regulatory and compliance standards, including HIPAA and infection control protocols.
- Patient Advocacy:
- Advocate for the best interests and well-being of orthopedic patients, ensuring they receive the highest quality care.
Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with specialization as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification as a Wound Care Nurse Practitioner (WCNP) or willingness to obtain.
- Prior experience in orthopedic wound care preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to providing patient-centered care and promoting positive outcomes.
- Commitment to professional development and ongoing education.
