Responsibilities and Duties
- The ability to develop and facilitate growth within the Nursing Department relates professionally and positively to facility and departmental staff and to work cooperatively with others at all levels.
- Performs assessments, develops and implements appropriate plan of care based on assessment and treatment plan tailored to meet each individual's needs. Evaluates the plan of care and makes necessary changes as needed.
- Works collaboratively with the Director of Nursing, other nurse managers, primary physicians, nurse practitioners and Medical Director.
- Provide primary skin care to residents under the medical direction and supervision of the residents’ attending physicians, medical director, or the Director of Nursing Services, with an emphasis on treatment and therapy of skin disorders.
- Removing dressings, cleaning wounds, applying medication per physician protocol and redressing wounds.
- Delegates and collaborates in providing resident care according to licensure and skill levels, follows up to ensure success.
- Documents according to current standards and established policies.
- Able to work independently with organizational skills, to prioritize tasks and to exercise judgment consistent with core values.
- Able to model effective communication between residents, family, staff, and community.
- Ability to identify, plan, implement, and evaluate skin care in residents.
- Provides treatment for skin disorders within an established wound care protocol.
- Absorbs modifications to the treatment regimen to meet the needs of the residents, in accordance with established medical practices, the regulatory guidelines and the policies and goals of this facility.
- Provides information to residents and caregivers on prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve the general health and psychosocial status of the residents.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Licensure as an RN in the state of Wisconsin in good standing.
- Must be Wound Care Certified.
- Experience in LTC preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong desire to work with the elderly.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
- Possess skills in leadership and communication.
- CPR certified.
