About the role

Puppetry is an ancient art form that dates back thousands of years, evolving from simple forms to intricate productions. World Puppetry Day celebrates the creativity, artistry, and impact of puppeteers and puppetry on humanity.

Responsibilities

  • Create animations from inanimate objects to tell stories.
  • Engage in storytelling through various forms of puppetry, including marionettes, shadow puppets, and water puppets.
  • Collaborate with other artists to produce theatrical performances that reflect societal values and issues.
  • Develop and maintain puppet characters, ensuring they are engaging and relatable to diverse audiences.
  • Adapt stories and scripts to fit the style and medium of puppetry, preserving and enhancing the cultural significance of traditional tales.

Requirements

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
  • Passion for storytelling and the performing arts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other artists and technicians.
  • Knowledge of various puppetry techniques and traditions.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining puppet characters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Theatre, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in puppetry.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute creative puppetry projects.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
