About the role
As the Workplace Practice Leader at Perkins&Will, you will be making a significant impact in the areas of design, technical, and management. Your responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Develop connections and relationships in the community and bring in projects.
- Communicate goals and responsibilities to the project team and take initiative on strategic issues.
- Develop and coordinate detailed design concepts, manage functional requirements and project-design criteria, and integrate basic engineering systems.
- Respond to technical implications of design decisions and promote firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability.
- Understand and implement all aspects and phases of the architectural, design, and production process.
- Assist with design and technical coordination among various disciplines and perform tasks according to the Perkins&Will Project Delivery Manual.
- Define, monitor, and maintain control of the scope of work and services for the project, including project schedule and work plan.
- Prepare and negotiate client and consultant proposals, fees, schedules, and contracts, and manage communication between the client and Perkins&Will.
- Directly interact with clients and associated consultants to ensure timely collections and manage delinquent accounts receivables.
- Ensure the orderly and complete preparation, distribution, and retention of all project written records, and consider risk management by monitoring client and technical issues.
- Coordinate staffing resources with the Office Operations Director and support the development and retention of quality staff, including training and development.
- Facilitate program development with project teams and be responsible for project design budget and cost control.
- Prepare design presentations and assume leadership in client and owner presentations, direct, organize, and mentor junior staff.
Requirements
The typical years of requisite experience for this position is 15+ years. A professional license is preferred, and LEED GA certification must be obtained within six months of hire. Other critical, baseline technical skills and certifications include:
- Advanced knowledge of the project design process, construction documentation, programming, space planning, furniture specifications, and materials and finishes.
- Strong project budgeting and contract negotiation skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced experience in all phases and aspects of a project, including programming and planning.
- Strong competency in interior design specifications, calculations, and industry standards, and application of building codes and specifications.
- Experience in directing, mentoring, and coordinating project teams.
- A collaborative and professional work ethic.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including client presentation skills.
- Strong software proficiencies, including Revit knowledge, project management software skills, and advanced graphic and 3D visualization skills.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in interior design or a related field, with advanced degrees preferred. Additional certifications such as LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, or CPHC/CPHD are also preferred.
Skills
Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, including client presentation skills, and be proficient in software such as Revit, project management tools, and graphic and 3D visualization software.

Pay
The annual pay salary range for this position in Boston is between $122,600 and $180,200.
